Artist
Amit Bhar is a self taught artist. He has been inspired by the rustic beauty of rural Bengal from his childhood. At sixteen while at the Calcutta Govt. Art College, Amit was guided by Shri Paresh Das, a noted artist and gold medalist. He further studied art under the famous Subal Jana and Niloy Ghosh, who together enriched his style. Amit can capture the subtle details of every subject on his canvas. His paintings draw the viewer in to re-examine the fine line between illusion and reality, between waking and dreaming.

30 in x 48 in, Acrylic on Canvas
New artwork uploaded.... ganges river, spiritual art, temple painting, indian landscape, golden hues, serene atmosphere, cultural heritage, oil painting, historical scene, peaceful setting Experience a moment frozen in time, where spirituality meets the tranquil flow of life. This painting captures the essence of a sacred riverside in Varanasi, enveloped in a warm, golden glow. The artist intricately details the iconic temples and bustling ghats, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the rich cultural tapestry of this revered location. Each stroke whispers stories of devotion and serenity, making this piece a profound addition to any collection. The painting depicts a serene riverside scene along the Ganges River, showcasing a prominent temple with a pointed spire topped by a flag. The foreground features broad steps leading down to the water, where several boats are moored. The background reveals a series of ornate buildings and additional temples, softly illuminated by a warm, golden light that creates a peaceful atmosphere. The sky is painted in muted tones of yellow and brown, suggesting dusk or dawn. The texture varies across the canvas, with smoother areas representing the water and more detailed brushwork highlighting the architectural elements. This painting visually resonates with works such as 'The Fighting Temeraire' by J.M.W. Turner and 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa' by Hokusai. Both share a focus on water as a central element and evoke a sense of tranquility and movement. The subdued color palettes and atmospheric effects in these pieces parallel the warm tones and serene mood found in the current artwork, highlighting the connection between nature and spirituality.

New artwork uploaded....Street lamps mingle with the golden hue of lamps from the temple as the stillness of the silver water becomes a mirror for the celebration of light. Sunrise at the Ramnagar Fort, Varanasi by Amit Bhar (2015)
36 in x 48 in, Oil and arcylic on canvas
New artwork uploaded....Sunrise at the Ramnagar Fort, Varanasi (Beneras). The Ramnagar Fort is located near the Ganga River on its eastern bank, opposite to the Tulsi Ghat. The sandstone structure was built in the Mughal style in 1750 by Kashi Naresh Raja Balwant Singh. At present, the fort is not in a good shape. It has been the home of Kashi Naresh since the eighteenth century. The current king and the resident of the fort is Anant Narayan Singh, who is also known as the Maharaja of Varanasi even though this royal title has been abolished since 1971. Because of its scenic location on the banks of the Ganges, the fort and the palace are frequently used as an outdoor shooting location for films. The film titled Banaras is one of the popular movies shot here.It was the 7th Pit Stop of The Amazing Race 18 [Source - Wikipedia] varanasi art, river scene, indian landscape, warm colors, cultural heritage, traditional life, oil painting, sunset hues, historical architecture, serene atmosphere Immerse yourself in the serene beauty of this captivating oil painting that transports viewers to the timeless banks of Varanasi. The artist masterfully captures a moment of tranquil life along the river, where tradition and modernity coexist. The warm hues of the sunset reflect off the water, creating a magical atmosphere that invites contemplation and reverie. This piece is perfect for collectors who appreciate the depth of cultural heritage and the ephemeral beauty of daily life in India. The painting depicts a riverside scene in Varanasi, showcasing a series of historic buildings and temples along the banks. The architecture features intricate details and is bathed in warm, golden light, suggesting either dawn or dusk. A prominent red flag flutters, adding a vibrant contrast against the earthy tones of the structures. In the foreground, several wooden boats float gently on the calm water, where figures can be seen engaging in daily activities. The background blends soft, muted colors, creating a serene atmosphere, while the texture of the canvas enhances the overall richness of the scene. This painting shares a visual similarity with works by artists like John Singer Sargent and Claude Monet, who often depicted riverside scenes with a focus on light and atmosphere. The use of warm tones and reflections in water evokes the tranquility found in Monet's 'Water Lilies', while the architectural elements remind one of Sargent's portraits of Venice, blending culture with nature in a harmonious composition.
