Delhi artist Tejinder Kanda seems to dig into his recollection of a carefree childhood spent in the open fields and clean air of lush green rural Punjab & the hills around the area as the spring for his art. The impressionist style of painting with thick impasto work led by French and European Masters beginning the 19th-century has clearly influenced the artists work. An avid admirer of Claude Monet and John Constable amongst others in the genre; Tejinder has evolved his own distinct idiom. There is an interesting mix of abstraction and realism interspersed with landscapes that add an ethereal touch to his work. A dramatic rendering of reflections in water and the play of light and shade are other familiar elements in much of his creative imagery. Partly dreamy and partly representational, the compositions capture the artists perception of life and the world around- its landscapes, fleeting moments and happenings. The renderings are tacit imprints of personal memories desires and experiences primarily as general impressions. Clear thick visible brush strokes in bright colours set against a softer palette, are a hallmark of Tejinders large body of impressionist expressions.

28 in x 50 in, Acrylic on Canvas
New artwork uploaded.... urban landscape, rainy day, colorful umbrellas, night scene, impressionism, city lights, reflections, vibrant colors, oil painting, street life Immerse yourself in this vibrant portrayal of a bustling city street under the rain. The artist captures the dynamic interplay of light and color, where reflections dance across the wet pavement. Umbrellas dot the scene, adding layers of texture and movement amidst the urban chaos. This painting invites viewers to experience the energy and emotion of city life, making it a captivating addition to any collection. The painting depicts a lively urban street scene during a rain shower, filled with pedestrians holding colorful umbrellas. The composition is bustling, with figures moving amid bicycles and market stalls. The background features buildings illuminated by warm, glowing lights, creating a contrast against the cool blues and purples of the rainy atmosphere. The wet pavement reflects the vibrant colors, enhancing the sense of movement and life. Brush strokes are thick and expressive, adding texture that evokes the feeling of rain-soaked streets. Overall, the piece captures the essence of city life in a dynamic, atmospheric setting. This painting shares visual similarities with works like Monet's 'Rain at Etretat' and Van Gogh's 'Starry Night'. All three feature dynamic brushwork and vivid colors that evoke emotion. The use of reflections in the wet surfaces connects it to Monet's impressionistic style, while the energetic composition and color palette resonate with Van Gogh's unique approach to capturing movement and atmosphere.

Ethereal Benares at Night by Tejinder Kanda (2015)
28 in x 48 in, Acrylic on Canvas
New artwork uploaded....'Ethereal Benares at Night', a 28 x 48 inch dreamy composition of the illuminated Ghats highlights the spiritual center of the famous temple town in its complete glory and splendor. Varanasi (Hindustani pronunciation: [ʋaːˈraːɳəsi]), also known as Benares, Banaras (Banāras [bəˈnaːrəs]), or Kashi (Kāśī [ˈkaːʃi]), is a city on the banks of the Ganges in the Uttar Pradesh state of North India. In the Rigveda, an ancient Indian sacred collection of Vedic Sanskrit hymns, the city is referred to as Kāśī (Kashi) from the Sanskrit verbal root kaś- "to shine", making Varanasi known as "City of Light", the "luminous city as an eminent seat of learning". The name was also used by pilgrims dating from Buddha's days. The artist Tejinder Kanda seems to dig into his recollection of a carefree childhood spent in the open fields and clean air of lush green rural Punjab & the hills around the area as the spring for his art. Harmandir Sahib by Tejinder Kanda (2016)
40 in x 30 in, Acrylic on Canvas
New artwork uploaded....Delhi artist Tejinder Kanda's ' Harmandir Saheb' is a 30 x 40 inch representation of the Golden Temple in Amritsar. The turquoise & violet sky & its reflection in the pond adds to the effect, making it a spectacular piece. The temple is spiritually the most significant shrine in Sikhism. It became a center of the Singh Sabha Movement between 1883 and 1920s. In the early 1980s, the temple became a center of conflict between the Indian government led by Indira Gandhi, some Sikh groups and a militant movement led by Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale seeking to carve out a new nation named Khalistan from parts of India and Pakistan. In 1984, Gandhi sent in the army, leading to numerous deaths of militants, soldiers and civilians, as well as causing much damage to the temple and the destruction of Akal Takht. The temple complex was rebuilt again after the 1984 damage. The artist Tejinder Kanda seems to dig into his recollection of a carefree childhood spent in the open fields and clean air of lush green rural Punjab & the hills around the area as the spring for his art.
